General Surgery

The general surgeons of the Department of Surgery perform a varied scope of general surgery procedures. Areas of expertise include:

  • Breast Disease
  • Endocrine system
  • Gastrointestinal tract
  • Biliary System
  • Abdominal Wall and Hernia Repair

The general surgeons in our department work closely with other specialists involved in each patient’s care to diagnose and provide timely surgical intervention.

We understand that planning the timing and sequencing of treatments is critical  to the health and recovery of patients.  The surgical team works collaboratively with oncologists, mammographers and radiologists to provide the highest quality care for patients.

Types of treatments for breast cancer that the surgeons at the University Specialty Clinics focus on include:

  • Modified Radical Mastectomy
  • Simple Mastectomy
  • Partial Mastectomy or Lumpectomy (Breast Conserving Surgeries)
  • Breast Reconstruction

We also treat other cancers, including:

  • Melanoma and Other Skin Cancer
