Dr. Matthew Areford is a 1989 graduate of Hampden-Sydney College, Hampden-Sydney Virginia. He earned a bachelor of science in mathematics and physics, summa cum laude, graduating as valedictorian of his class. He received a doctor of medicine in 1993 from Duke University School of Medicine, Durham, North Carolina, in 1993.
